OUR HISTORY

The Arenas Valley Church of Christ originated to fill several needs. The church was originally located in Cliff NM, just north of Silver City where it met for more than 30 years.  By 2015, it became evident that the Cliff/Gila  community had a sufficient number of congregations to serve the limited population. Arenas Valley is located approximately halfway between the communities of Silver City and Bayard. Both of these towns are served by existing churches of Christ but the Arenas Valley area which has seen significant growth in recent years, had no local congregation. It was determined that the church could serve a larger and growing population by relocating to Arenas Valley.

Since the planting of the church in Arenas Valley, the congregation has doubled in size. While still reasonably small, we are continuing to reach out to the community and a number of world-wide ministries are also supported.  We are currently exploring other outreach opportunities including college and youth ministries.

WHO ARE WE?

The Arenas Valley Church of Christ is a friendly group of Bible believing individuals who have been added to God's church. We believe in the inspiration of the Bible - God said what he meant and meant what he said. We endeavor to duplicate the model of the 1st century church in our worship and fellowship.

We are an evangelistic church as Jesus instructed as recorded by Mark:

  • Mark 16:15-16

  • 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

  •

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (KJV)

That is our mission statement - to reach out to the world - starting with our own community.

The church also is very benevolent and supports the Zambia Mission Fund, Zambia Medical Fund, NM Christian Children's Home, and the Manuelita Christian Children's Home.  In addition, the saints that meet here have chosen to assist in domestic disaster relief efforts resulting from tornadoes, floods and other weather related issues around the country.
